What does the charter price include?

Where do we depart from?
Sailing charters depart from the Burlington Community Boathouse on the downtown Burlington, Vermont waterfront. For directions to the Burlington Boathouse, click here.

Where do we sail?
Departures will be from Burlington Harbor, offering many opportunities for sailing routes. Depending on your interests and the winds of the day, we can sail the open waters to Juniper Island or head for the more sheltered Shelburne Bay. Full-day charters leave time for an excursion to Willsboro Bay, New York and Schuyler Island. On warm summer days, a popular stop is near the forested Lone Rock Point for a swim at Burlington’s North Beach. No matter which direction we point our bow, there is much to enjoy.

What should we wear?
Weather can vary considerably on Lake Champlain. In addition to dressing for the day’s forecast temperatures, it is a good idea to bring some form of windbreaker on all but the warmest of days. Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a brimmed hat are also good to have along. Footwear should be either “docksider” boating shoes, sandals, or tennis shoes.

What time will we depart/return?
Departure and return times can be arranged at the time of reservation to meet your group’s needs. Half-day charters run four hours. Full-day charters are seven hours. Whether you would like a midday sail to the beach or a sunset cruise, we can accommodate it.

What are our options for meals?
Meals are not included in the charter price. You may bring your own picnic meals with you or arrange to have us serve meals aboard (for an additional fee). We cater meals through local Burlington eateries with a wide range of options. If you would like us to prepare your meals we will quote a price at the time of the reservation.

What if the weather is bad?
While it would be nice if all days were sunny and warm with a ten to fifteen knot breeze, weather happens. Raven is equipped with a full cockpit enclosure in the event of rain. If the winds are up, you may enjoy the lively sailing on open waters, but we have options for more protected bays if a spirited sail is not part of your plan. We reserve the right to change our route or cancel charters when faced with weather systems that are unsafe.
